Fall Flowers

Flowers do not exactly mitigate pain, but they grow alongside it, an alternate current. And so I am grateful for the abundance of flowers still blooming in the midst of October, from the splashy zinnias to the delicate blossoms of broccoli and mustard. And then there are the sun flowers, magnificently stark and spooky, feeding the birds with their seeds. For those who can’t visit in person, I offer these images, a reminder of beauty in trying times.
